Infidels Jazz is heading into a massive stretch of shows, with 5 big concerts in Vancouver over the next 3 days, including two of our biggest shows ever!
On Friday night, the Rickshaw will be the place to celebrate your favourite anime and video game music, with performances by three groups (35 musicians!) known for selling out every show they play:
missingNo is a Jazz & prog-rock influenced group covering all your favourite (and our favourite) video game tunes. They'll be playing music from Plok! to Chrono Trigger and everything in between with a funky rhythm section and powerful five-piece horn section. Their last show at Tyrant sold out!
The Cowboy Bebop Bebop Band is a 7-person group r featuring some of the hottest young jazz musicians in Vancouver playing the music from your favourite anime ever. Their last three Infidels shows all sold out!
Ghibli Jazz Orchestra: An 18 person big band under the direction of Isabel Leong, comprised of musicians who share a love of Studio Ghibli films, video games, and anime. Their last two shows at the Pearl sold out in record time.
On Saturday, the Fox Cabaret will be the home of Chen Baker, a 7 piece fusion band who will be playing your favourite City Pop hits. The night will mostly consist of hits from genre staples such as Miki Matsubara, Taeko Ohnuki, Tasturo Yamashita, and Casiopea, along with Western songs that echo the sentiment.
We'll be back at Frankie's this weekend with our ongoing series Frankie's After Dark. Our featured performers will be the pianist Suin Park on Friday night and bassist Isaac Story on Saturday. All of our After Darks start at 11PM and are only 10 bucks!
This Sunday sees the return of our Sundays at Hero's Welcome series, with the fantastic trumpeter Jocelyn Waugh! These shows start at 2PM, and are also only 10 bucks.
