Upcoming Infidels Jazz Shows: Mar 14-18
Infidels Jazz is proud to be presenting 7 different concerts over the next several days, at 5 different venues!
On March 14, our New Thing series returns to the Zameen Art House, with a band that fuses Syrian melodies with Free Jazz energy: La Syrie Libre. This group features scene mainstays Emad Armoush, Kenton Loewen, and James Meger. Although we've presented each of these musicians many times on their own, it's the first Infidels show with this group.

On March 15, we return to the Vancity Theatre and our long-standing partnership with the folks at the Vancouver International Film Festival. This show features a screening of Beware of Mr. Baker, a 2012 documentary about one of the greatest rock drummers of all time, Ginger Baker. To accompany the show, we've asked Infidels fave Kevin Romain to perform the music of Ginger's 90s jazz trio that featured Bill Frisell & Charlie Haden. He's bringing Olive Shakur on bass and Cole Schmidt on guitar.

We're back at Zameen on March 16, with the next edition of our Expression Sessions series. Our featured band is Coercion, an exciting group featuring some of the city's most explosive Jazz musicians, including Evan Cribb, Seb Chamney, Nikko Whitworth, Jordy McIntosh, Thad Bailey-Mai, and Max Huberdeau.

March 18 sees the return of our Sea Legs series, and it features Ruthie Ha leading a quartet at the Painted Ship in Kitsilano! Every Ruthie show is an event, and this is a great opportunity to hear one of the city's brightest young jazz stars.

We'll be back at Frankie's this weekend with our ongoing series Frankie's After Dark. Our featured performers will be the bassist Allison Lee on Friday night (leading a sextet!) and bassist Francis Naluz with an organ trio on Saturday. All of our After Darks start at 11PM and are only 10 bucks.
This Sunday sees the return of the Jazz Jam at our Sundays at Hero's Welcome series, with the wonderful pianist Sharon Minemoto leading the Jam. All jazz musicians are welcome to play, and admission is free.
