Upcoming Infidels Jazz Shows: Feb 28 - Mar 3
Infidels Jazz is heading into a stretch of seriously eclectic shows, with 4 concerts in Vancouver over the next 4 days!
Qalandar combines traditional Persian music with free jazz, and it's been over 3 years since their last Vancouver performance. This group will be part of our live series at the VIFF Centre on March 1, in addition to a screening of the Persian-Canadian film Universal Language.
We are so excited to be launching the East Van Shuffle, a new monthly series at Hot Deli (AKA The Lido) on March 3. I couldn't think of anybody better to start the series than our good friend Will Chernoff. Will has put together an incredible band (Feven Kidane, Madeleine Elkins, and Kevin Romain) to help him interpret the music of the late, great trumpeter and composer, Ron Miles.
Every weekend at Frankie's After Dark is a good one, but this weekend is especially exciting. On Friday, pianist Jancis Bautista returns to After Dark, with a fantastic trio. And on Saturday, the bassist Harmeet Kaur Virdee leads a band at Frankie's for the first time. These shows start at 11pm and are only 10 bucks.
