Mississippi Blues & Western Swing at VanJazz' 26
One can not live on Jazz alone, or so we've been told. As such, we've got two great shows coming up at China Cloud that are geared to those of us that appreciate a more rootsy night out.
Robert Connely Farr is from Bolton, Mississippi, home of Charley Patton, Sam Chatmon & the Mississippi Sheiks, mentored by Missippi legends like Jimmy Duck Holmes & RL Boyce. His music is rooted in the Bentonia Style of the Delta Blues - a style originated not far from his home in rural Mississippi, and has been featured in shows on Netflix, Lifetime and SYFY including Snowpiercer, Resident Alien, and Reacher. He sold out the VIFF Centre this year, and we're excited to have him ply his Bentonia Blues in front of a more intimate audience.
Paul Pigat is one of Canada's finest purveyors of rockabilly and roots music, and has performed and recorded with Jeff Beck, Jakob Dylan, Michael Kaeshammer, Albert Lee, Brian Setzer, The Reverend Horton Heat, Neko Case, Jim Byrnes, The Sojourners, and many more. He'll be debuting his Western Swing Trio on October 24 as part of VanJazz!
