Japanese Jazz & The Birth of Bebop + Open Jam Session & Late Night Hangs
It's summer! Infidels Jazz is celebrating with 5 concerts this weekend at 4 different venues.
Our first big show is on Saturday, and it features some of the hottest young jazz musicians in town performing the music of that beloved artform: bebop. Jimi James has put together a sizzling quintet to play the music of Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, and more. It's all happening at the VIFF Centre, and after the set we'll get to see a screening of the classic film with Marlon Brando, The Wild One.

Chen Baker has been selling out venues all summer, and their next big show is this Monday at the Hot Deli, where they'll play music that's very near and dear to their hearts: Japanese jazz! Also known as J-Jazz, this subgenre captures the vibrancy of Japan's passion for the great art form of jazz.

We've been having some great crowds at Frankie's After Dark recently, and we're going to continue that trend this weekend with the Frankie's debut of saxophonist Bea Lagrisola, and the launch of a new trio: Jillian Lebeck, Afu, and Kody Buchart!
David Sikula is back at Hero's Welcome this Sunday, and he's leading an open jazz jam session! Just a reminder that people under age 19 are welcome to attend and to play, they just need to be accompanied by a guardian of some sort.
