The Funkiest Vancouver Concert of the Year.
On September 27, Vancouver's funkiest musicians will team up to celebrate the music of two iconic funk & Jazz trailblazers: Betty Davis & Miles Davis!
Betty Davis was one of the most important voices of 1970s funk: a flamboyant pop diva a full decade before there was such a thing, with a discography full of sexually aggressive and incredibly funky tunes that weren't hits, but should have been.
She's long been an influence on Vancouver based keyboardist, producer, and all-around phenom Mary Ancheta, which has led Mary to this special night at the Fox Cabaret full of Davis' most loved tunes, as well as some deep cuts. She'll be joined by special guests Dawn Pemberton, Krystle Dos Santos & Leo D.E. Johnson.
In addition, Vancouver's long running Miles Davis tribute group Electric Miles will perform an opening set from Miles Davis' incendiary electric period from the late 1960s & 1970s.
Tickets are selling quickly to this concert at the Fox Cabaret, and we're expecting it to sell out.
