Contemporary Big Bands, Syrian Free Jazz & Black Sabbath Covers
Infidels Jazz is heading into a great weekend full of shows, with 4 exciting concerts at 3 different venues.
Our big show this weekend is at the Fox Cabaret on Saturday, May 31st, and it features one of Canada's most exciting big bands, Dean Thiessen's Stranger Friends Orchestra. Dean will be celebrating the release of the Orchestra's first album on the Infidels label, with a special performance at the venue where the album was recorded over a year ago. This show will feature some of Vancouver's most talented musicians, including Feven Kidane, John Nicholson, Todd Stewart, and so many more.

On Monday, June 2nd, we're back at the Hot Deli with the East Van Shuffle, and our special guests are La Syrie Libre, featuring Emad Armoush, James Meger & Kenton Loewen. This group combines traditional Syrian music with western Free Jazz, and recently packed the Zameen Art House for our New Thing series.

Frankie's After Dark is particularly eclectic this weekend. Saxophonist Nick Wise leads a great quartet on Friday, and Lone Bear returns on Saturday, plying their particular jazz rock skills and covering icons like Black Sabbath, Phil Collins, and more.
