Chinese Pop, Alfred Hitchcock, Free Jazz Legends, & Montreal Piano Jazz
Infidels Jazz is proud to be presenting nine different concerts at 6 different venues over the next six days!
It all starts on Thursday night at Hero's Welcome with our wildly popular Social Music Series. Our featured band is Chen Baker, and they'll be playing two great sets of Mandarin pop and R&B music. Every show that Chen Baker does for us sells out, and this one will be no exception. Do not miss out on this opportunity to see one of the most buzz-worthy bands in town.

We've got an extra special edition of our New Thing series at Zameen Art House on Friday. New York's Briggan Krauss, Seattle's Wayne Horvitz, and Vancouver's own (Melbourne's own, lately) Dylan van der Schyff will be teaming up for the very first time in this city. Zameen is a very small room and tickets are selling fast.

Another series that usually sells out is our popular collaborations with the folks at the VIFF Centre. Saturday's show features Chris Gestrin performing a live score to one of Alfred Hitchock's very first movies, The Lodger. Chris has played with everybody from Motley Crue to Kenny Wheeler, and his last VIFF for us sold out.

We're back at Zameen Art House on Sunday with the latest edition in our Expression Session Series. This concert stars Montreal pianist Kate Wyatt with bassist Adrian Vedady and drummer Louis-Vincent Hamel. Fans of the contemporary piano trio won't want to miss out on this.

We've got the debut of a new fusion band at this week's Sunday at Hero's Welcome, Blown Fuse! This group features Dave Robbins, Nick Leffler, Nikko Whitworth, and Jimi James.

Speaking of Jimi James, he'll be the band leader at our next Painted Ship show this coming Tuesday. Joining him are the original members of the Jimi James Trio. his special guest will be West Coast saxophone legend John Gross. John has played with everybody from Shelly Manne to Lionel Hampton, and it's an honour every time he does one of our shows.

Frankie's After Dark this weekend features Vancouver guitarist Josh Roberts on Wednesday, and Denmark-based Canadian pianist Matt Choboter on Saturday. And last but not least, up-and-coming saxophonist Ingrid Li is back from McGill! She'll play our Pass the Hat Series at the Hot Deli on Monday.
