Celebrating John Coltrane's birthday with a Saxophone Legend
George Garzone is a true titan of the tenor saxophone, known for his work with legends like Jack DeJohnette, Kenny Barron, and Dave Holland, and for some of his former students like Branford Marsalis, Joshua Redman, and Mark Turner. He's turning 75 this year, and on September 23 he'll be celebrating that at Tyrant Studios in Vancouver by performing the music of an icon whom he shares a birthday with: John Coltrane.
Garzone will be joined by one of the Pacific Northwest's most exciting jazz groups, the Jerry Steinhilber Trio. This is an extremely rare opportunity to hear one of the great masters of the tenor saxophone in one of the hippest venues in the country. Tickets to both sets are selling quickly.
