Brazilian Soul, Arabic avant-garde, & celebrations of Blue Note Records, John Scofield & Bill Frisell
Infidels Jazz is heading into an incredible stretch of concerts, with 8 shows at 6 venues over 6 days!
It all starts tomorrow, Thursday, with Quincy Mayes' Brazilian Soul Experience. This energetic group will be performing selections from an eclectic group of black composers like Milton Nascimento, Elza Soares, Gilberto Gil, and more. This is part of our Social Music Series at Hero's Welcome, and tickets are selling quickly.

On Friday we're proud to present the best Arabic avant-garde big band on the planet: Haram! Led by Juno-winning guitarist/oudist Gordon Grdina, this is one of the most unique ensembles in Vancouver. This will be our third show at the Kingsway Club, and tickets are selling fast for this one as well.

We're celebrating the music of the great guitarist John Scofield on Saturday, with Groove Elation! This group features some of the city's best young jazz musicians, and will be performing your favourite Sco cuts. It's all happening at All-City Athletics, as part of our Knockouts series there.

Also on Saturday is the next in our ongoing collaboration with VIFF and it's a tribute to Blue Note Records! You get a concert by BC's Blue Note Legacy Quartet, as well as a screening of an excellent documentary about the label, all for one low price.

The next edition of our Sea Legs series at the Painted Ship is a really unique one, as we're celebrating the music of Bill Frisell, with Look Out For Hope. This is a new trio featuring Bradshaw Pack on pedal steel guitar, Karlis Silins on bass, and Kenton Loewen on drums.

All this, plus two fantastic editions of Frankie's After Dark featuring two of the hottest young drummers in Vancouver: Arvind Ramdas & Wes Anderson!
And last but not least, our monthly jam session at Hero's Welcome is back on Sunday, led by the Jimi James Trio. These jams are open to ALL jazz musicians.
