A Celebration of the Music of Albert Ayler
Combining contemporary Jazz & pre-WWI brass & marching band music in ways that nobody had done before or since, Albert Ayler (1936-1970) was one of the foremost innovators behind what would eventually be called "free jazz" alongside artists like Ornette Coleman and John Coltrane.
On October 25, legendary Vancouver guitarist Tony Wilson assembles some of the city's finest musicians for a rare tribute concert to this iconoclastic saxophonist, at one of Vancouver's hippest jazz venues: All-City Athletics.
