URGENT GAZA DOUBLE ACTION ALERT!!
Hello again, from the INWCLP!
Thank you to PSL, JVP, VFP, Green Party of NE WA, PJALS and all of you who participated in our downtown street action on July 31st. Our intention was to get loud in order to call public attention to the latest genocidal actions of Israel and the U.S. in Gaza, and in this, we succeeded! Thanks to Kathryn and Abby for their excellent answers in an interview on the action with KHQ!
We can't stop there, however. As the atrocities pile up, and the situation becomes more dire and urgent by the day, our fellow humans in Gaza need all of us to do everything we can to keep the pressure on...
For this action, which will take place next Wednesday, August, 13th, from 4:00-6:00, we will to meet up at the wedge-shaped parking lot on North River Drive just off of Division Street, between the Ruby River Hotel and the parking lot for the former Arc of Spokane thrift shop.
From there we plan to spread out onto the sidewalks where North River Drive intersects with Division and Division branches off into Ruby Street. (We will decide then whether it seems safe for anyone to also stand in the triangle between Division and Ruby Streets.)
We are once again highlighting the theme and slogan, "Stop Starving Gaza NOW!"
For those that are able to participate, we are again suggesting signs with to-the-point slogans, and/or images, accompanied by wording that convey, in uncompromising terms, our outrage at the actions mentioned above.
"Stop Starving Gaza NOW," "Your Tax Dollars at Work," "Stop the Hate, Stop the Bait," "Israel and U.S. shoot starving civilians," "Don't Look Away," "Food, NOT Bombs," "Aid, NOT Bullets," "Stop shooting starving humans," - signs with any of these slogans or similar wording would be on-point and appropriate, as are Palestinian flags.
Alternatively, participants may bring an empty pot and serving spoon, to use as both a symbol and noisemaker.
Like last time, we will spread out in pairs/small groups along the sidewalks, with at least one person per pair/group banging on the empty insides of a cooking pot.
Also like last time, our message is meant to be potent and uncompromising, reflecting the urgency of the moment. This action, though non-violent, is intended to shock the conscience of members of the public stopped at traffic lights in this congested area during rush-hour!
Please come prepared for heat and mindful of safety at this high-traffic intersection.
In addition to Wednesday's action, we continue to plan a two-part action around the Pig-Out-In-The-Park event.
If you are interested in participating in the planning of that action, please contact us at <info@inwclp.com> Our next planning meeting is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, August 14th, 6:00 at the Community Building.
Thank you for the work you all do for a more just and peaceful world. We hope to see you on Wednesday!
In solidarity,
INWCLP
