What did we tell you, Florida? What. Did. We. Tell. You. Can't remember? We'll make it quick: we think you're the worst. Well, not ALL of you in Florida. Just the several hundred bear hunters who committed a veritable BEAR MASSACRE during the recent surprise bear hunt in America's Paradise / Sad Place Where Oranges Come From, Sometimes. Apparently, the sheer horror of killing 298 bears in two days and raising $378,900 wasn't enough for those awful Orange People (the original goal was 320), because the wildly disgusting bear hunt of 2015 will be revived in full bear-killing force around this time in 2016. While tonight's Republican candidates for President will be surely be asked some sort of joke question about that military blimp that escaped its mooring in Maryland, terrorized Central Pennsylvania and then crashed in a field near Muncy, what they really should be asked is what they think about bear hunts (they're awful) and if they would allow the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to continue the hunt in the future (they should not). We hope that helps you make a choice next November, America. TO THE BEARS.

Florida black bear [Ursus americanus floridanus], subspecies of the American black bear that lives in the southern United States, including Florida and the southern portions of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi.
food: Though classified as carnivores, black bears have an omnivorous diet. In spring they consume emerging plants and carcasses of animals that have died during the winter. Fruits dominate the diet in summer, and both fruit and mast, especially acorns and beechnuts, constitute most of the fall diet. As opportunistic feeders, black bears will also eat pinecones, roots, ants, and honey from wild or domestic bees.
habitat: Florida black bears are known to reside in forested areas, as well as in forested wetlands and other similar regions of greater Florida. Once numbered at nearly 12,000, recent estimates of the Florida black bear subspecies put the number far closer to 3,000. (Minus the 298 killed by Florida's gamesmen and women in the last week.)
