I know that I said that the prologue to Avalon City Saints was going live today - it is here, on my hard drive, ready to roll. But because this is such a big change to The Hypolloi - adding a paid tier - I thought it was only proper that I did some last minute due diligence and check in with the whole ‘Substack promotes fascism’ thing that has haunted the platform for a while now.

I alluded to it here, back in 2024.

The bad news is that Substack is not a company that I feel comfortable with working with any longer.

The good news is that The Hypolloi will continue, but it needs to migrate to a different platform, before we can add the paid tier for Avalon City Saints. I am currently checking out which alternatives are the best for our needs. Free subscriptions will continue, as usual, once the migration is complete.

All being well, the prologue will appear this time next week (24/04/26) and The Hypolloi will continue with its ongoing mission to bring you insightful findings and incendiary fiction.
