September–October course announcement! (And this Saturday’s pop-up bakery.)
Hi everyone,
This weekend, AQI stands for All Quality Ingredients, as we host chi nguyễn, founder of @snax.nguyen, for a pop-up bakery at 1152 College St. on Saturday morning. The theme is Ontario produce, some of the proceeds (with matching donations from chi & us) will support Indigenous wildfire mutual aid, and the menu has my mouth watering. The related make-a-fake-cake creative workshop is now open to all ages! More details below.
The big announcement: our September–October after-school and evening courses for kids and teens open for registration on Friday, August 14 at 8 a.m. Mark your calendars! Comics, animation, D&D, sewing, an indoor/outdoor studio … we’re even starting a magazine by kids! Plus, we’ve heard you, and are launching a Saturday-morning course. Again, more details below. (Psst: adult courses are open for registration now!)
Our first few weeks of camp have been a blast. It’s been delightful seeing old friends, making new ones, and witnessing so much skill and ingenuity! While you’re out and about, you can enjoy our campers’ papier-mâché creations in the windows of Ice Cream’s Ice Cream on Dupont or our College Street studio.
Thinking of getting a “more details below” tattoo,
Brian
September–October courses

Due to popular demand, we’re expanding our offerings this fall, with a seven-week “semester” featuring courses for a wider range of ages. Favorites like our multimedia Deep Dish Studio and analog-and-digital Animation return, the latter with an evening section geared toward Grades 5–10. Recent hits like the Sewing Studio and the Dungeons & Dragons Studio likewise return. And we have new offerings: a Studio Skillz for kids in Grades 4–8 wanting to enhance their painting and drawing (and possibly put together a high-school application portfolio), an Inside/Outside that involves nature-based making, and a magazine-making course!
As usual, we’ll offer pick up from our core/local schools (minimum four registrants), freeing you to take that late-afternoon meeting or run some errands.

Saturday! @snax.nguyen bakery pop-up & fake-cake workshop at 1152 College St.

One person ventured a comment on Instagram, but we heard from many more privately: why limit making fake cakes to kids? So now the art-making session with chi nguyễn and HP founder Julia Dault is open to all ages! Come make a fake cake or decorate a mirror. Frosting, fruit, and fun!
Meanwhile, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (or when we sell out), Brian and Ryan will be selling chi’s cookies, savoury treats, bars, and cakes. The menu looks fabulous: cherry, halva & rye cookies; roasted tomato and garlic scape buns; elote scones (I’m first in line for these!); chocolate, sour cherry, & black sesame cake cups; strawberry cornmeal cakes; and so much more.
