November–December courses are filling up

Paint a favourite recipe, make a scavenger hunt—or explore Saturday Deep Dish

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the wonderful response to our November–December courses! Three after-school options at Osler have sold out. Dungeons & Dragons at Osler, plus Studio Supreme and Deep Dish at College, are filling up quickly. There’s still plenty to explore at both studios—including Saturday Deep Dish for families whose weekdays are spoken for.

Courses begin in early November:

  • Kids’ offerings at 1152 College

  • Kids’ offerings at 134 Osler

  • Adult offerings at both locations

Every registration also helps provide living-wage work for Toronto artists.

We couldn’t do this without you. Really. If Hot Pizza didn’t exist, I’d probably just write emails like this to Julia, so she is especially grateful.

Until next week,
Brian

Coming up this weekend

For adults: Turn a favourite recipe into an artwork

What’s the dish everyone asks you to make? Your mom’s soup? An Ottolenghi delight? This Saturday, turn it into an artwork.

Sarah Aranha will guide you through watercolour, pencil crayons, and mixed media to illustrate a favourite recipe. You’ll leave with something to hang on the wall, cook from, or give to someone who loves that dish as much as you do. As I learned at our June session, the conversation is half the pleasure: recipes have a way of bringing out stories about food and family.

Adults · Saturday, October 24 · 7:30–9:30 p.m.
134 Osler St.

For kids: Make a scavenger hunt full of surprises

If your kid loves making things, inventing games, or devising elaborate plans for everyone else, this is for them.

This Sunday, they’ll work alongside internationally renowned artist Micah Lexier to create their own scavenger-hunt kit for family and friends. Using paper, felt, wire, wood, and more, they’ll make the surprises, scorecards, and prizes—then bring the whole thing home for someone else to discover.

They’ll also take home an original coin from Micah’s Scavenger Hunt exhibition at The Power Plant.

Grades 3–7 · Sunday, October 25 · 3:30–5:30 p.m.

Weekdays full? Deep Dish now runs on Saturdays

Our September weekday sections sold out at both studios—even after we added another at Osler. So we’re bringing the same creative freedom to Saturday mornings at College Street.

Each week, kids choose from new possibilities in drawing, painting, sculpting, sewing, building, and more, with an artist’s guidance to help bring their ideas to life. Drop your kid off, head out for coffee or run some errands, and come back to see what they’ve made.

Grades 1–6 · Saturdays, 9:30–11 a.m.
