Hand casting, pet portraits, and the last few summer-camp spots

Hi everyone,

Playing host to Derek McCormack’s book launch last night was such a blast; it was great to see old friends and make new ones. We’re excited to host other events and pop-ups of all kinds, and we’ll have more to announce soon!

In the meantime, we’re down to our last few sessions before switching into summer-camp mode. Join us for unique art experiences this weekend and next!

Off to soccer with our youngest,
Brian

Made by hand (literally)

Celebrate Father’s Day—or a friendship or just yourself!—with the unique experience of casting your hands in alginate and hydrocal. (Don’t worry—we’ll lead you step-by-step.) It’s a surprisingly affecting experience, and you’ll leave with a unique and special work of art as a keepsake.

This one also means a lot to us, as it’s the last one-off class being led by Jes Bonnie, our first HP faculty member, who is moving across the ocean later this summer to make it as an artist in Berlin. 🤍

Paint your BFF (Best Furry Friend)

True story: early in my relationship with Julia, my parents’ beloved dog Buddy passed away. She decided to paint a watercolor portrait of him, based on a photo I’d taken, and gift it to them at Christmas. I had never seen my dad so touched, and I think this gesture is what first convinced my mom I should eventually ask Julia to marry me. (I had my own reasons, of course.)

I can’t guarantee you’ll end up with a spouse, but our Pet Portraiture session on June 27 is sure to give you the feels. Join Sarah Aranha for another of her beloved watercolor workshops, this time focused on furry (or scaly?) friends. Bring an image and we’ll help you translate it into a gorgeous artwork to take home.

Summer camps

Still sorting out summer? Take advantage of the fact that we didn’t open our College St. location until after all the other camp sign-ups opened! We have at least one spot available in each of the seven weeks we’re offering camps.

Your kids will spend a lot of time in the studio creating magic—we like to say that if it’s something we offer during the year, then they’ll probably get to do it at camp. But we also visit local parks and splash pads for outdoor fun. Camps run from 9 a.m. (drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m.) to 4 p.m. (pick-up ends at 4:30 p.m.).
