October Sim Racing Updates
This month the results are in for the big 3 NZ sim racing events. We also have some brands using sim racing for promo activities that are offering big prizes worth paying attention to.
NZ Sim Racing
NZ Esports ACC Qualifier (NZEAQ). Huge congratulations to winner Matthew McEwen. A beautiful drive in all three races he’s a deserved champion. Ewan Baker fought him all the way to finish second with Brandon Webley coming home third.
McEwen is now qualified to represent New Zealand at the Global Esports Games in China at the end of the year (learn more). We’re all behind you Matt, give it everything 💪
NZ Esports Racing Series (NZERS). Not only is McEwen winning in ACC he also continues to be king of GT7 taking out the NZERS online championship. McEwens winning streak was interrupted on only two occasions with Caleb and Simon getting one race each. The top 10 drivers now head into the LAN finals at Respawn Esports Center in Wellington on November 16th to decide the NZERS champion.

Most events have already taken place at JB Hifis and Harvey Normans on Oct 12th and 19th but there are still a couple to come in Auckland.
The top 3 in NZ win awesome Playseat/Logitech/Venom movie bundles with the top 16 across the Asia/Pacific region going on to race online for a chance at the VIP McLaren F1 experience.

A silly mobile game was used for qualification but with a far from silly prize of competing in the world finals in Madrid, with that winner getting a VIP experience with Max Verstappen, up for grabs there was some series competition. The 12 finalists competed in Auckland on Oct 18th in a 5 lap race using F1 24 on XBox. Quin Zander from Wellington emerged the winner and booked his spot on the world finals in Madrid in December.
