News

  • FIA launch Esports European Hill Climb Cup. The competition run on free title RaceRoom will feature qualifying from August 20th to September 7th with the top 8 drivers racing at the live finals in Luxembourg. Interestingly the track for the finals is being kept a secret, presumable it will be a new release that no one will be able to practice before hand. Full details have not been announced but the name suggests it may be limited to Europeans only.

Extras

  • FIA continues their push into esports. The FIA have launched a call for proposals for FIA backed Eports Championships. The FIA have previously included esports in the Motorsport Games, FIA F4 Esports Championship, and recently FIA Global Esports Rally Tour. International tournament organisers can pitch their ideas and potentially become official esports promoters for the FIA.

  • Aussie sim racer appointed Team Engineer for Ferrari Esports. Aussie talent Oscar King has resigned with Scuderia Ferrari HP Esports ahead of the 2027 F1 Sim Racing season. Inspiring to see a career in esports being built by local talent like this.

  • The rise of AI slop in sim racing. I’m seeing a trend lately of more AI being used in promotion of sim racing leagues. It does a useful job but also feels icky with sometimes strange output and LLM use coming at a cost. How do you feel when you see clearly AI generated sim racing content? Hit reply and let me know.
