After the release of January's newsletter I've learned of a couple events from 2023 worth mentioning that I had missed. Ewan Baker competed in the Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship and Enduro for Mental Health raised $4,000 for charity. See the full updated newsletter in the archive.
Nations Cup Exhibition results are in with Jake "Apex Humper" the top kiwi finisher picking up 4th in the region. Tom "HC_Atom" England won the first round but would miss the rest of the season. It's all shaping up for a big NZ vs Aussie battle in the nations cup proper later this year.
Logitech G Challenge Forza qualifiers are coming to a close with a few kiwis making it into the top 48 in the region. Those drivers will be going on to race in the quarter finals vying to get into the top 16 who win prize money from the $10,000 Asia-Pacific prize pool.
FIA Motorsport Games are set to use ACC and iRacing for the 2024 event in Valencia, Spain in October. NZ drivers can register their interest through Motorsport NZ but the selected driver/s will need to fund their own way.
Computer Lounge to host sim racing 1v1 competition on February 24th. Open entry with the top 8 fastest drivers racing 1v1 on ACC should make for an exciting format. Prizes are yet to be announced but with support from Moza it's sure to be another big one. Find more details on Facebook.
Sim racing is set to return to Armageddon in 2024. Tauranga hosts the first event on March 16/17 with PingZero once again bringing the racing sims. Wellington and Christchurch Armageddons follow in April.
News
NZ Esports Racing Series featured on GTPlanet this week.
Prodigy Racing League returns for a second running. PRL is a world wide series with qualifying events across multiple games that lead into real life racing. Last year a few kiwis came close, with the likes of Ewan Baker and Brian Borg racing in qualifier finals. Is this the year we see a kiwi go all the way?
I'm not sure who's been asking to make iRacing harder but the devs have been listening because rain is coming to iRacing, expected in the March update.
Turtle beach release new sim racing wheel set to be available later this month. We now have so many sim racing wheel options coming from Logitech, Thrustmaster, Fanatec, Turtle Beach, Moza, Simagic, Simucube, Trak Racer, VRS, Accuforce, Asetek, Sim Steering, +more.
Le Mans Ultimate set to release in Early Access (a form of Beta/unfinished release) on February 20th. It will be available on PC through steam.
