Hectic March Motorsport Update
Welcome to the March edition of Hectic Motorsport News, quick highlights from across sim racing in NZ and beyond.
Two events with awesome prizes in an otherwise quiet month for sim racing in NZ. If you know of any upcoming events in NZ or kiwis racing internationally please reply to this email and let me know so we can all get behind it.
NZ Sim Racing
Computer Lounge ACC 1v1. Racing on the delayed date of March 9th drivers competed for $3500 worth of Moza prizes. J. Da Silva won themselves the Moza R9 bundle, with C. Chan just two tenths behind in second picking up the Moza R5 bundle. Check out the pics on Facebook.
JustTheAtoms 1,000 follower race event. Prizes included a Thrustmaster T248 from Speednation, vouchers to The Cave, and Toyota Gazoo Racing merch from TGR NZ handed out as spot prizes and to race winners. Matt McEwen took the series win with great success charging through the reverse grids on GT7. Rewatch the broadcast on twitch.
Kiwi wins Logitech G Challenge. K1Z Tom has been crowned APAC Champion in the Logitech McLaren G Challenge on Forza Motorsport. After three tough races in the finals Toms win earns him $3,000 along with a trip to the Spanish GP with McLaren VIP package!
Kiwis in Prodigy Racing League or Logitech G Challenge? Two series that are hard to follow from the outside, lacking streams and public results. If anyone knows kiwi drivers who have been competing I'd love to chat and learn how it all unfolded.
Armageddon sim racing. There will be sim rigs at Armageddon Tauranga however these won't be for Red Bull Virtual Race or Ping Zero as previously thought. Word from Red Bull is the Virtual Race may come later in the year but is unconfirmed.
Tauranga Arma - March 16/17th
Wellington Arma - April 6/7th
Christchurch Arma - April 13/14th
Later: Auckland (June), Palmerston North (August), Auckland again (October)
News
New endurance racing game announced. Hot on the heels of Le Mans Ultimates release a new endurance racing game has been announced by KT Racing simply called "Endurance Motorsport Series" and set to release in 2025.
International Sim Racing
Virtual British Rally Championship. Motorsport UK continue to set the standard for motorsport governing bodies embracing sim racing/esports. The competition runs on EA Sport WRC but is only open to Motorsport UK members. Petition to get Motorsport NZ doing something similar?
DTM Esports. Kicking off last week with a $50,000 prize pool it may be the biggest sim racing series of the year so far and it's full of big names to match. Marcell Csincsik, Kevin Siggy, Isaac Gillissen are just a few of the experienced drivers to make it through the worldwide qualifiers and opening round. Watch round 2 live on youtube.
Extras
New Cammus C12 wheel. Another new wheel but this one's a little different with the direct drive tech built into the wheel itself rather than having a separate wheel base.
F1 23 available as PlayStation+ free download during March. No doubt a move to hype the series before the F1 24 launch in May but I'm not complaining.
