August Update + New Submission Form Open!
Thank you all so much for subscribing over the past month!
The Dgz1 release went so much better than we could’ve possibly imagined, and the interest in the community’s work seems to be growing more every single day!
Today we move onto our next chapter with the release of the submission form for Dgz2 which spans from August 20th to October 15th. This time around we’re trying a couple new things:
Firstly, we have decided to extend the timeline for each digizine to be quarterly (just adding a month!), this way artists looking to create new works have more time to do so within the window, and artists of all kinds have more time to hear about the project before the window closes.
In addition, we have opened up the option for artists to opt-in to a one night screening exhibition of works to be held in late October (tentatively!), many friends and submitters asked during the process of the last digizine if we would be interested in running screenings, and we definitely are if you are!
Last but not least, we have a THEME!!! Here’s our secretary to explain it:
As August hits, and the weather stays hot but starts to tease autumn, I find myself noticing the strange parts of daily life, catching odd things out of the corner of my eye, walking paths I would never expect to walk. The twinge of the upcoming season is in the air, and a new, far less regular season is starting as well: Weird Season has arrived.
Weird Season is the part of the year where the inklings of fall are arriving, and the world seems to let in the strange far more than usual. Weird Season is when we explore abandoned buildings, it's when we drive down unfamiliar winding roads to unknown destinations, it's when we catch things out of the corners of our eyes that seem more than natural.
All connection to theme is up to the artist's discretion, whether Weird Season is horror, comfort, spooky, comedy, romance, or documentative to you, everything is welcome.
