📩 Ping! a DM drops into my Instagram. It’s from a band I followed recently after a first listen of a tune captured my attention. They have new music and dates out, they say, so I PicoJar it to come back to later.
A few hours later over with coffee in hand I press play. The music is from Edinburgh-based five-piece rEDOLENT, with a debut album that frankly deserves to smash speakers into oblivion, demanding to be played loud and on repeat and immediately become my record of the week.
‘dinny greet’ is a wickedly glorious take on living in a modern world, for the good, bad and impulsive. Made in Leith at Post Electric Studios it feels destined to become essential listening for the generational moods of today.
Made up of brothers Robin and Danny Herbert, drummer Andrew Turnbull, Robbie White on bass, with Alice Hancock on live samplers and backing, live dates and their mailing list can be found at the band’s website.
🐌 Tonight’s the night for the premiere of Beluga Lagoon’s new album The Slug’s Bunnet from 8pm ahead of the packed out Barrowland’s gig on May 30.
🌞 LUSA have released Lucia (feat Beth Malcom) as the second track of the coming debut album along with Ros T’s remix of their debut track Probably, both out just in time for this Friday’s headline gig at Dannsa in Glasgow. 🎹 Kenna Ross has revealed her new album ‘In The Moment’ recorded at Wee Studio will be released on July 12, two days before her live show Under Canvas at Eden Court, where she play with Scott C. Park who worked with her on it.
⛵️The latest track from The Tumbling Souls called Sailing A Boiling Sea is released on Friday, also via Wee Studio, and a nod of thanks also to Adam Sutherland.
🌙 Sara Rae has been revealed as one of the headliners for King Tut’s Summer Nights line up, playing on Sunday August 18.
🎶 The Peatbog Faeries have Innes and Allan from Niteworks joining then with a DJ set for their appearance at SWG3 TV Studio on Saturday June 15.

🎵 Hands Up For Trad have issued a call for entries for this year’s MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards.
🏆 The online entry system to compete in this year’s Royal National Mòd also closes soon. Individual and group competitors wishing to take part in the 2024 event, taking place from 11-19 October 2024 in Oban, have until midnight on Friday 31 May 2024 to submit their entries.
