Good Shepherd Weekly 9/26

Campfire Sing-a-long

A Campfire-Singalong will be held at Good Shepherd on Friday,, September 30 at 6:00pm. If you are able, bring something for the potluck meal. The meal will start at 6:00pm inside then move outside to the fire at 7:00pm. The kitchen will be open all evening. In case of rain the event will take place inside around our plastic fire. Either way, bring your lawn chairs and your singing voice. Not required but greatly appreciated will be a story to share with us.

Traditional Practice for Communion

Starting on Sunday, October 9 we will return to our traditional practice for Lord's Supper. An usher will direct you forward and Lord's Supper will be received around the altar. Pastor will distribute individual and common cup wine as well as wafer bread. If you prefer sealed bread and wine, as you approach the altar you will pass by a table which has the sealed bread and wine on it. You may take one of these up with you.

After Service Fellowship

We'll be bringing back after church fellowship starting Sunday, October 2. We will hold fellowship roughly every other week. Consider helping provide refreshments for fellowship time--a sign up for providing refreshments can be found on the church bulletin board in the lobby.

Sunday Morning Bible Study

Sundays 9:00am In-Person

The Light in The Darkness is a Bible class on how God promised to preserve his Gospel and how he has preserved it for us today. This study not only teaches doctrine concerning God’s Word, but also covers the history of how the Old Testament and New Testament has come to us through surviving manuscripts.

Upcoming Sunday

We call worship a "service.” Which raises the question: who is serving whom? In answering that question, it is easy to focus on what we do in worship. “I set aside time in my week to come to church. I am singing praise to God. I brought him an offering. Clearly, I am serving him.” True enough. However, as God speaks this week, he clarifies our focus, letting us see that worship is primarily about him serving us. Through Word and sacrament, he delivers every spiritual gift he wants us to receive. Our service to God is good. His service for us is perfect. Our service to God is important. His service for us is essential. God loves our service to him. But we desperately need his service for us. Receiving his service is actually the highest form of worship.
