Good Shepherd Weekly 8/8
Seeking Singers
We will be forming a festival choir for our 50th anniversary service on September 10. Please consider joining for this special event! Rehearsals will be held after church on Sunday, August 20 and tentatively Sunday, August 27. It's a familiar tune, so it should be quick to learn. Hope to see you at rehearsal!
A Vision for Good Shepherd
Good Shepherd is built on the rock of God’s Word. Since our work together relies on well trained followers of Jesus, we are passionately devoted to using God's Word to equip individuals to be life-long followers of Jesus Christ. Our members will be thoroughly trained and nurtured in God’s Word so that each person grows in faith and reflects God’s love through daily action.
5 Year Goals:
- Encourage greater attendance in Bible Studies offered.
- On the first lesson of a new Sunday Bible study, the study will be held after church with a pot-luck meal.
- Create resources for parents in raising up their children “in the fear of the Lord.”
- Hold regular Bible Foundations classes throughout the course of the year and invite the congregation whether it is held online, at church, or in a member’s home.
- Hold growth groups and host them based on geography.
50th Anniversary Celebration
Mark your calendar for Sunday, September 10 at 4:00pm. Good Shepherd will have a special worship service to celebrate 50 years of God's grace. Good Shepherd's founding pastor, Rev. David Scherbarth, will be preaching. Following the service, we will have a meal outdoors. The meal will feature a pig-roast and seating will be under a tent.
Bible Study Wednesday AM
On Wednesday at 10:30am there will be a theological study at Good Shepherd. This study series will provide a range of biblical and practical courses available to help you grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. The purpose of these studies is to train qualified and confident leaders and volunteers within our congregation. We will begin with a study on Law & Gospel.
Sunday Morning Bible Study
What God teaches regarding men and women has been controversial since the fall into sin. But now Christians face new challenges. Gender is a hot-button issue. Hierarchical relations in the home, the church, and workplace can be tools of abuse. Christians need clarity on what God teaches about men and women as well as their God-given roles. In this study we will learn what the Bible says about gender, how men and women are to serve together in the home and the church, and how we can show the beauty of these teachings in our roles today.
Upcoming Sunday
In times of adversity, doubt rise in our minds–doubts about God’s care, God’s promises, God’s providence. In those times, the true answer to doubt is not found in some great miracle that removes adversity, but in the voice of our Savior God whispering to us in his Word. Through that Word Jesus says, “Why did you doubt?” Our faith is restored.
