Good Shepherd Weekly 7/2
Morning Bible Study Resumed
We will wrap up our Sunday morning Bible Study, Foundations, this coming Sunday at 9:00am. We’ve been working through some of the appendix topics which you voted on. These are all one-off studies, so if you missed a previous lesson you can still come! This week we will consider: “What do we do when the Bible neither commands nor forbids something?”
Bible Study & Meal on July 14
A new Bible Study called Misquoted (see more info below) will start July 14. Since this is the first study of a series we will hold Bible Study after Sunday service with a meal. On July 21 Bible Study will resume at 9:00am. If you are able to come please sign up so we can have a general head count for good. The sheet is on the red bulletin board near the kitchen. If you can provide a dish to pass, there is a sign up sheet for that as well. The main dish will be provided: smash burgers and hot dogs.
Misquoted Bible Study
"I can do all things." "The truth will set you free." "I know the plans I have for you." All of these are quotations from Scripture. All of these are quoted by people with good intentions. However, very often they are quoted out of context and as a result misapplied. What can result is confusion, misunderstanding, and even worse false hope. In this Bible study we will look at some of the most quoted Bible passages and put them back into proper context so that we can grow in understanding, appreciation, and hope.
Date Set for English Improvement Opportunities
The first English Improvement Class at Good Shepherd will be held on Tuesday, September 17. Pastor Flunker will be present for that class. More importantly, he will be here on Monday, September 16 to provide training to our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in any way with English Improvement Opportunities then we encourage you to plan on being here for training. More specific times on September 16 will be forthcoming. These classes are a way for us to put our Christian love into action. If you have any questions please speak to any member of the Outreach Committee (Jack Terry, Mary Terry, Inga Wohlgemuth, Katie Otto, Pastor Goetzinger).
Sunday 9am Bible Study
Foundations

Foundations is an introduction to Biblical and confessional Lutheran theology. That might sound overwhelming but it's not. In each class we will answer one core question of life and then we will see how the Bible answers that question. If you have been a Christian for while, this is a class for you. If you want to know what our church teaches, this is the class for you. Because in this class you will be given the solid foundation of Jesus' teaching.
Upcoming Sunday

Life in God’s Kingdom is just different. To the casual observer it may not look like much. It might look small or unimpressive. But in reality God is at work in his kingdom. He offers rest to the weary. He saves people through his promise given in his Word. He provides for all people, but especially those in the kingdom. And in the resurrection of his Son, he gives us the encouragement needed to live in this word as members of his Kingdom.
