We will have a tent, but please bring lawn chairs, your favorite beverage, and an appetizer/snack to share. Pastor and Sarah will bring a table for the food. Any questions please ask Sarah or pastor. The website also has more information. We look forward to a fun afternoon together!

Date Set for English Improvement Opportunities

The first English Improvement Class at Good Shepherd will be held on Tuesday, September 17. Pastor Flunker will be present for that class. More importantly, he will be here on Monday, September 16 to provide training to our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in any way with English Improvement Opportunities then we encourage you to plan on being here for training. More specific times on September 16 will be forthcoming. These classes are a way for us to put our Christian love into action. If you have any questions please speak to any member of the Outreach Committee (Jack Terry, Mary Terry, Inga Wohlgemuth, Katie Otto, Pastor Goetzinger).

Witte, Kuehl, and Henselin Families

Two Sundays ago we prayed for the Witte, Kuehl, and Henselin families. Pastor Steve Witte was the former president of Asia Lutheran Seminary and was currently serving as the lead for WELS missions in Southeast Asia. Pastor Witte gathered with his families for a family reunion a couple weeks ago and there was a fire in their Airbnb. Six members of the family died, including Pastor Witte who went back into the building to attempt saving his grand-daughter. Pastor Witte died along with two daughters and three grand-daughters. If you are interested in supporting these families with a monetary donation, you can use the links below.

Sunday 9am Bible Study

Misquoted

"I can do all things." "The truth will set you free." "I know the plans I have for you." All of these are quotations from Scripture. All of these are quoted by people with good intentions. However, very often they are quoted out of context and as a result misapplied. What can result is confusion, misunderstanding, and even worse false hope. In this Bible study we will look at some of the most quoted Bible passages and put them back into proper context so that we can grow in understanding, appreciation, and hope.

Upcoming Sunday

Join us for our seven-week sermon series, "Psalms of Summer," starting on July 21. The book of Psalms is a book of the Bible that is a collection of songs which offer readers insight into the world around them, deep personal reflections, and encouragement for faith. Over the next eight weeks, we will dive into a selection of these beautiful songs, including the comforting lyrics of Psalm 23, the praise anthem of Psalm 145, the steadfast assurance of Psalm 46, the joyful chorus of Psalm 34, the reflective reverence of Psalm 111, and the profound verses of Psalm 119. These spiritual songs will refresh your spirit and inspire your faith. Come and listen to the perfect soundtrack, not just for summer, but for all of life.
