Sunday Service Time Change
On Sunday, May 29 Bible Study will be at 9:00am and Sunday Service will be at 10:00am. For the sake of consistency we will follow this schedule year round for the foreseeable future.
Crawl to the Cross Event
On Sunday, May 29 the Stewardship Committee will host a fellowship after church. Bring a snack and enjoy the morning together, and try out a variety of RC Cars. There will be a variety of stations set up each with a different truck. Including: a run through the woods, a timed course, a rock crawl. If you have an RC Car feel free to bring yours along. Plan on sticking around after church on May 29 for some fun and fellowship.
Memorial Day at the Goetzingers
Pastor and Sarah will host a Memorial Day fellowship at their home. If you are free Memorial Day Monday, May 30 come for the afternoon and stay into the evening for fellowship, food, and encouragement. Fellowship starts at 3:00pm at the parsonage. Pastor will light the grill and dinner and sides will be served later in the day. Please RSVP by Thursday, May 26 so we can have an approximate head count for food (don't feel like you can't come if you didn't RSVP).
Wednesday Evening Bible Study
Wednesdays 7:00pm Online
As Paul writes his letter to the Christians in the city of Philippi, he is bound in prison and disconnected from his friends and church family. He is also facing a dilemma—he is unsure whether he will survive this imprisonment or not. Far from being a lament of his situation, Philippians is a letter filled with joy, praise, and thankfulness. Paul found the unique joy that comes only to those who have been lead by the Holy Spirit to discover the life of Christ. Paul shows us how being a Christian means seeing your own life as an expression of Jesus’ life. Paul shows us that Christ centered contentment can not be stolen away by life’s circumstances.
Sunday Morning Bible Study
Sundays 9:00am In-Person
Every Sunday we follow the same rubric... invocation, confession and absolution, hymn, sermon, blessing, etc... Sometimes it can seem like tradition for tradition's sake, rather than providing an obvious benefit for the people of today. Confessing sin can seem stodgy. The songs can seem old. But far from being a relic of the past this form of worship provides us what is essential for faith and life. It unites us with one another, offers encouragement to all us, and shows us that God is at work even today.
This Sunday
Jesus' ascenion marked the fact that his work was complete. Never again will a sacrifice for sin need to be made. However, Jesus' ascension also marks that his work is just beginning. Through the Church Jesus now proclaims forgiveness throughout the world. The Church consists of people like us who are often weak and timid witnesses for Christ. So Jesus promised to send us his Spirit to give us power from heaven, that we might take the gospel to the ends of the earth.
