Wednesday Lent Services
Lent services continue tonight at 7pm. Pontius Pilate may wash his hands and proclaim his own innocence in the death of Jesus, but Pilate consented to Jesus' execution. While it may be an uncomfortable thought, Pilate’s failures make us consider our own involvement in other's sinful actions. Thanks be to God that our journey to the cross shows us Jesus’ forgiveness.
LWMS Spring Rally
On Saturday, April 15, Good Shepherd is blessed to host the Spring Rally for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society (LWMS). We are in the process of changing the name “Rally” to “Hearts in Motion” because that is the perfect description of the LWMS. Hearts moved to serve our missionaries and our missions around the world!!
This will run from 9-3 on April 15. Our guest speaker will be Pastor Timothy Walsh from Grace of God in Dix Hills, NY. Thai Village products will be on display and available for purchase.
The commitments from our ladies is supplying continental brunch items as the ladies are arriving and registering. And also a lunch. Table decorations and and set up are taken care of, however we usually have some kind of “take away” from each event, and if anyone has any artistic idea or fun Spring or mission themed item to have at each table setting let me know.
Please mark this on your calendar to attend! If you weren’t able to make the annual convention last summer in Rochester, this is a mini version right here at our church. If you would like to help out in any way, please let Debbie Giovinazzo know.
Upcoming Sunday
Jesus is King of kings and Lord of Lords. He is willing to do absolutely anything necessary to serve and protect you. We see that this Holy Week. It begins with Jesus riding a donkey colt into Jerusalem. As this week nears its end, Jesus is given a crown of thorns. He carries a cross out of Jerusalem and is nailed to it. Placed on his cross was this sign: “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” That is our King, who came to save us. He is a greater kind of king that we need most.
