Good Shepherd Weekly 3/22
Singing for Good Friday and Easter
A choir will be formed to sing two different pieces--one for Good Friday and one for Easter. If you are interested in singing for either or both of these services please plan to meet after service on Sunday, March 26 to rehearse.
Easter Sunday Breakfast
Join us early on Easter morning for breakfast beginning at 8:30am. We'll be slinging breakfast sandwiches and serving up fruit parfaits and pastries. If you plan to attend, please add your name and headcount to the signup sheet posted. For those who would like to contribute to the meal, you can sign up for one of the items posted or speak with Katie Otto directly.
Easter Sunday Easter Egg Hunt
After service on Easter we will be hosting an easter egg hunt for kids. Baskets will be provided and kids will be able to go on the hunt for eggs.
Wednesday Lent Services
Lent services continue tonight at 7pm. Simon Peter witnessed much of Christ’s ministry on earth. He is featured in many highlights of the four Gospels, but we will see Peter at his lowest point, as he denies Jesus three times. The result of Peter’s denial is a massive amount of guilt. Each of us can relate to the guilt that comes when we remember past sin. But guilt is not the final word for Peter, and it is not the final word for us. After His resurrection, Jesus restores and forgives Peter. Jesus offered Peter grace.

LWMS Spring Rally
On Saturday, April 15, Good Shepherd is blessed to host the Spring Rally for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society (LWMS). We are in the process of changing the name “Rally” to “Hearts in Motion” because that is the perfect description of the LWMS. Hearts moved to serve our missionaries and our missions around the world!!
This will run from 9-3 on April 15. Our guest speaker will be Pastor Timothy Walsh from Grace of God in Dix Hills, NY. Thai Village products will be on display and available for purchase.
The commitments from our ladies is supplying continental brunch items as the ladies are arriving and registering. And also a lunch. Table decorations and and set up are taken care of, however we usually have some kind of “take away” from each event, and if anyone has any artistic idea or fun Spring or mission themed item to have at each table setting let me know.
Please mark this on your calendar to attend! If you weren’t able to make the annual convention last summer in Rochester, this is a mini version right here at our church. If you would like to help out in any way, please let Debbie Giovinazzo know.
Upcoming Sunday
Have you ever heard the thought that says something like “the dead don’t die until they are forgotten”? In a sense it is true that our loved ones “live on” in our memories, but we can recognize something lacking in that sentiment. Jesus though promises life in the place of death and by raising a man named Lazarus to life he showed he has the promise to deliver it. Only Jesus, the Lord of Life, satisfies our greatest need.
