Good Shepherd Weekly 2/15
Ash Wednesday Service & Soup Supper
Lent is just around the corner. On Wednesday, February 22 we will celebrate Ash Wednesday. Service will start at 7pm. We will also have a soup supper before the service at 6pm. A signup for food and other items is on the bulletin board next to the kitchen door.
Lenten Devotional
Help your Lenten practice with a devotion guide for your personal use. This devotion paints a stunning portrait of Jesus through the eyes of those whose interactions with Jesus lead us to meditate on his work of salvation. Your faith will be strengthened as you hear the witness of those who were present as part of Jesus’ journey to the cross. Along the way you’ll meet disciples and “villains”, but most of all you too will witness your Savior. You can pick up a hard copy at church or download the guide here.
Chili Cookoff & Chocolate Chip Cookie Comp
Get your recipes ready, because the 2022 Chili and Chocolate Chip Cookie Cook-Off is coming up quickly! This year's competition will be held on Sunday, February 19 after worship. The sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board. We need competitors to bring their best chili or chocolate chip cookie for a chance to become this year's champion! We’ll be having a raffle along with the chili/cookie competition! Bring your non-perishable food items or toiletries for the local food bank to receive raffle tickets. If you are interested in donating items for the gift basket raffle please speak with Sarah Goetzinger.
February Growth Group
Date and Time: Friday Febraury 17, 2023 Fellowship begins at 6:30PM with Bible Study at 7PM.
Location: Normandin Residence – 229 Woodbine St. Cranston, RI
Growth Groups are designed to be a laid back and casual way of connecting with Christian friends who care about God and each other. In our growth groups we pray together and study the Scriptures together. We add in some food and fellowship and maybe even some good laughs together because we want to build up Christian friendships. Growth Groups are a fun and healthy way of growing spiritually as well as enriching our relationships with other members.

New Hymnal Order
Good Shepherd will be placing an order for some extra hymnals. If you would like a hymnal for your personal use, we will make sure to order one for you when we place the order. Hymnals cost $24.00. A check can be made out to Good Shepherd and placed in the offering plate. A sign up sheet is on the bulletin board in the fellowship area.
Midweek Lent Series
As we begin our Lenten journey, we focus our attention upon various witnesses to Christ in John’s Gospel. We begin with John the Baptist, a man on a mission. John the Baptist’s mission is “to witness concerning that light.” In fact, fourteen times in John’s Gospel, the word witness is connected with John the Baptist. “He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every person was coming into the world” (John 1:8–9). John points us to Jesus, who takes away our sin, our guilt, and our shame at the cross.
Upcoming Sunday
Lent is the season of the Church Year where we wrestle with our greatest needs. Lent also demonstrates that in Christ, all our greatest needs are met. Here is what the Spirit makes clear this season. If you lack Christ, you have nothing. If you have Christ, you have everything you truly need.
Join us this for our new series: Our Greatest Needs.
