Good Shepherd Weekly 2/14

Ash Wednesday Service & Soup Supper

Tonight, Wednesday, February 14 we will celebrate Ash Wednesday. Service will start at 7pm. We will also have a soup supper before the service at 6pm.

Puzzle and Game Give-a-way

It's time to dust off those old board games and completed puzzles you've got at home and bring them to church on Sunday 2/18.  Puzzles and games that you wish to donate will be put out on tables for other members to take home. This is a fun way to find something entertaining to do at home this winter with a new game or a challenging puzzle.  After that they are yours to keep. Even if you don't have any to donate, everyone is welcome to take something home. Refreshments will also be served so make plans to stay for fellowship along with the game and puzzle give-a-way.

Pastor Tim Flunker & Pawtucket Outreach

Pastor Tim Flunker will be visiting Attleboro this weekend. He is the Hispanic Outreach consultant for WELS. He will be in town this weekend to tour Pawtucket and learn more about our congregation in order to provide us with a recommendation for Spanish language outreach in Pawtucket. As a part of his research he will be meeting with our congregation after service this Sunday, February 18. He will ask questions of us and it will be an opportunity to ask questions of him. Please join us for this meeting as we work toward serving in Pawtucket.

Foundations

Foundations is an introduction to Biblical and confessional Lutheran theology. That might sound overwhelming but it's not. In each class we will answer one core question of life and then we will see how the Bible answers that question. If you have been a Christian for while, this is a class for you. If you want to know what our church teaches, this is the class for you. Because in this class you will be given the solid foundation of Jesus' teaching.

Upcoming Sunday

When people need to be rescued. People are rescued from something. A person is rescued from the rising waves. A person is rescued from wreckage. Sinful people need rescue too. Sinners need rescue from a guilty record. Sinners need rescue from a verdict. Sinners need a loving and merciful God to spare us. In Jesus’ suffering and death God spared us from the punishment we deserve. But not only does God spare us from something but he spares us for something. Not only has God spared us from punishment, but he has spared us for a new life with him.
