Prayer for Family of Norman Raymond—Kathy Wohlgemuth’s Brother
Lord of life and death, we thank you for the countless ways you showed mercy to our fellow believer Norman Raymond, now fallen asleep. We thank you especially for having brought him to know your Son Jesus as his Savior. By the truth that their loved one is with you and by your promise that you are with them, comfort his family and all who mourn. Cheer them with the sure hope of a blessed reunion in heaven. Grant the lifeless body rest and at last, together with us all, a joyful resurrection to life everlasting. Teach us to number our days, that we may gain hearts of wisdom and be saved through Jesus Christ, our risen and ever-living Lord.

Wednesday Evening Lent Series: The Hand of the Lord
Whether tightening a bolt, knitting, or typing on a computer, there is so much that we do with our hands. It is no surprise that mentions of hands appear all over the Bible. The Lord’s hand is referred to over two hundred times in the Old Testament. Surprisingly, specific references to the “hand of the Lord” are not all that frequent in the New Testament. However, it is precisely in the New Testament where the hand of the Lord takes on literal meaning. The One through whom all things were created took on real, literal hands in His incarnation (John 1:1–14). The work of Christ’s hands helps us to see the merciful and personal way that he has come to serve us. Especially in His crucifixion. His hands were pierced for the sins of the world. He takes our self-serving hands and restores them into useful hands to literally use them from him.
Upcoming Sunday

“This is good. That is bad.” We often think life is that simple. We believe we can assess a situation accurately determine if it is positive or negative. But if we want to accurately see the world, we need to have Jesus teach us. That which the world considers a blessing can often be a curse. Things like success and wealth and health can lead us away from our God. We become so enamored with those blessings that we forget about the Blesser. Conversely, there are hidden blessings in what we would normally consider curses. When we fail, when we suffer, and when things don’t go our way, it forces us to put our trust in God and for our souls to be satisfied in him. The reality is that perceived blessings can be cursed and perceived curses can be used for our blessing.
