Good Shepherd Weekly 11/22

No Sunday Morning or Zoom Bible Bible Study

There will be no Sunday morning Bible study on Sunday, November 27. There will be no Zoom Bible study on Wednesday, November 30. Pastor will be out of town.

Advent by Candlelight

Our annual Advent by Candlelight service will be held on Wednesday, November 30. Advent by Candlelight is an opportunity for sharing a meal together as well as a time to start preparing our hearts and minds for Christmas. We will start the meal at 6:00pm and the service will begin around 7:00pm (dependent upon how quickly folks finish eating!). The service will feature a series of brief devotions, readings, and advent songs.

Come One, Come All

The Christmas season is coming upon us and Good shepherd would like all hands on deck to beautify the sanctuary and building. The Christmas decorating party will be December 4, 2022 at 3pm. We will be serving Pizza and having an ugly sweater contest.

Ladies Group Outing

On Saturday, December 10th the Ladies Group has an outing planned for a trip in to Boston. A link to the event is below, and includes some great shopping and fellowship time with lunch before shopping.

Details about the event can be found here:

https://www.sowaboston.com/sowa-winter-festival/

The event hosts 100+ of the region’s best makers, artists, designers, and specialty vendors together under one festive roof. Browse the main floor and enjoy delicious food and drinks, and be sure to venture to the 2nd floor for live music

Carpooling is available and pending where you live and where we meet, we will leave around 11AM. Our plan is to have everyone meet in Boston at NOON.

Please RSVP to Jessica Kegler so we can plan accordingly for lunch.

This Week at Good Shepherd

  • Sunday, Nov 27: Sunday Service, 10:00am (no-communion)

Upcoming Sunday

The Latin word adventus means “coming.” The last words in Scripture are “Come, Lord Jesus!” Thus, the season of Advent begins with the end in mind. We enter a new Church Year with our eyes fixed on the End when Jesus Christ will come and destroy this sin-broken world.

This Advent we will walk us through the entire life of Christ, we see God’s promises of deliverance fulfilled... God’s plan of salvation completed. And so, when Christ comes again, while the universe will be destroyed, we know God’s people will be ushered into a new, glorious, everlasting Kingdom.

Advent is necessary to prepare us for Christmas. It enables us to understand the true significance of Christmas. Advent allows us to see that because of what Christ did when he came the first time, believers need not fear when he comes again. Instead, we yearn for it. Come, Lord Jesus!
