Being a Steven Clark
This particular horse is dedicated to Steven Clark and is key to how I came to love the LeRoy King Carousel and eventually came up with the Game Developer Carousel.
I'm a member of The Explorers Guild troop #001, a merry band of explorers that go on adventures including rescuing Opportunity to driving actual diesel electric locomotives. The adventures we have are always different but for one annual exception: The Steeplechase.
One day a year, we visit three of the four carousels of San Francisco, including the LeRoy King. In the first year of Steeplechase, our troop leader Dr. Professor was about to take a group photo when a man by the name of Steven Clark offered to take a photo. An act of kindness that allows everyone to be included and remembered.
Every Steeplechase since, we pause at the LeRoy King to recognize this act of random kindness. Two years ago, we pulled our money together to dedicate the horse pictured to honor Mr. Clark. It's in that spirit that I have sponsored the Game Developer Carousel. A reminder that just being kind can have lasting, positive effects.
