Fifty Years of Service
Noble Farms is pleased to recognise Gerard van Holt, Milking Operations, North Range, for fifty years of service.
Mr van Holt joined Noble Farms in 1976, when his family’s conventional cattle operation became one of the first independent agricultural facilities to transition into licensed human Milking Bull production under the emerging Noble Farms programme.
Over the following five decades, he assisted with conversion of the original dairy infrastructure, supervised early Milking Bull housing trials, contributed to handling-standard revisions and later served within North Range Milking Operations.
Mr van Holt will receive a commemorative 001 service pin and formal recognition during Noble Farms’ Fiftieth Anniversary programme.
Noble Farms thanks him for five decades of responsible service.
September Records Now Available
Several new documents have been circulated through the Central Staff Network.
New and updated records include:
Adipose Stock Bay C environmental conditions
Equistock pre-auction presentation procedures
Arena Stock employee-safety incident
Milking Operations clinical-capacity review
Staff transport timetable changes
Annual respirator-fit appointments
Not all documents are available at Level I clearance.
This is intentional.
Auction Presentation Procedures Revised
Equistock handlers have raised concerns regarding unnecessary stress when stock experience auction conditions for the first time on the day of sale.
New guidance recommends that sale preparation form part of routine pre-auction handling. This includes exposure to presentation stance, inspection procedures, unfamiliar lighting, controlled separation, transport areas and simulated audience conditions.
The recommendation has been approved.
Noble Farms considers calm presentation beneficial to stock welfare, handler safety and final sale performance.
Arena Training Procedures Updated
A recent Arena Stock incident involving repeated aggression towards training personnel has resulted in revised employee-safety requirements.
Additional protective equipment and increased handler minimums have been approved. Higher electrical deterrent settings may also be authorised where immediate staff safety requires intervention.
A separate request to extinguish the stock animal’s aggressive response was reviewed and declined.
Aggressive engagement remains an essential performance characteristic of approved Fighting Bulls.
Behavioural Services has instead been instructed to improve discrimination between arena cues and routine handling conditions.
Noble Farms reminds all Arena personnel that desirable performance traits do not exempt stock from safe handling standards.
Milking Stock Post-Contract Capacity Review
Clinical Operations is reviewing current post-contract castration throughput within the Milking Stock division.
Current processing levels have reached approximately 80 procedures per day, placing increased pressure on surgical staff and recovery infrastructure.
A proposal has been submitted to investigate alternative methods more consistent with established bovine husbandry practice, with the stated objectives of reducing theatre time, staffing requirements and procedural bottlenecks.
Further technical documentation remains restricted.
