In which Crimson Climb is now available wherever books are sold

Good morning, pocket friends! It is Wednesday October 11, which means that Crimson Climb has been out for a whole day now, and I am extremely excited about it. This book is a little outside of my usual, uh, happiness quotient, but writing something this different was probably the breath of fresh air I needed. I finished drafting this book almost a year ago, and I knew even when I hit send to my editor that I had done something I was going to be proud of. Also, I killed off every single character I named after a friend (er, except one, who survived because I realized I needed someone to fly the ship at the end, and was thus reanimated). I did ask first. They were all cool with it.

ANYWAY, Crimson Climb became a book where I put things that I loved: Lego Star Wars, Chaucer from A Knight's Tale, that bit on Game of Throne when Dany gets the Unsullied, Indiana Jones-style murder temples. It stretched muscles I didn't know I had. It let me use some of the stuff I learned in university about stab wounds. I wrote an actual villain! Possibly three of them! And I got to write a girl who was willing to do absolutely anything, as long as she was still standing when it was over.

As I type this, Crimson Climb is in double digits on Barnes and Noble's sales rank, and the low 4000s on Amazon. And you have been sending me pictures of you and the book from Indie bookstores, which are my favourite. (Reminder: if you request it from your library, they buy it and that's a sale! and if you're Canadian, I get paid every time someone checks it out! So if you're on a budget, those are great options.) This is absolutely incredible, and I want to say thank you to everyone. I get to do this for work, and it's because you all read the books when I write them.

I'll be in New York this coming weekend for NYCC, and I have a launch event at McNally Jackson Seaport at 5pm on Friday the 13th, so you can see me if you're local but not at the con. Details for both are available at my Instagram, which is also the best way to keep track of me these days.

We'll be moving on to The Next Thing soon, but I always take a few days around launch to wallow in the book that's newly on shelves. I'm proud of this one, and I hope you have as much fun reading it as I did writing it.

Crimson Climb is available in North America now in all formats, wherever books are sold. If you don't see it, ask a bookseller. If you're in a library, that's great too! Overseas readers, I don't know anything about foreign editions, so check with your usual bookstore.
