OBSERVATIONS OF DEVIANCE with David Mittleman | Playlist & Chat
Special Program: The Music of Kelan Phil Cohran: Listening Position Interview
Although his name may not be as recognizable as his music peers, Kelan Phil Cohran (May 8, 1927 – June 28, 2017) left an incredible legacy, especially in his adopted hometown Chicago. He played and recorded with the Sun Ra Arkestra and was a founding member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM). For this episode devoted to Cohran’s music, host David Mittleman interviewed Jake Viator, whose Listening Position Records recently reissued Cohran’s album, African Skies.
