Vastly prolific yet somehow unheralded, the trumpeter Idrees Sulieman was a ubiquitous presence on stages and recording studios where the most vital jazz was being created. A key contributor to the earliest foundations of the bebop movement, Sulieman played with virtually every key innovator in the music on the New York scene, and in Europe, where Sulieman was expatriated for two decades. Taken from a career spanning 50+ years, today's episode of Give the Drummer Some offers a thumbnail retrospective of this wonderful artist's contributions to jazz and human history.
