Mix Annotations - Have the Whole Burger

Hi Friends,

Paul requested that I share some more dreams in this newsletter, so here are a few. They have been edited for spelling and clarity, as most of them I wrote down at 2:30am before I got up to pee. To be honest, I have no memory of these dreams:

#1: I was kidnapped and then put into an escape room. I eventually got out, but when I asked my kidnappers what I did to solve the escape room, they explained that I just laid my head on a table for 8 hours. I tried to tell them I was allowed to take such a long break.

#2: I was visiting a cottage that was partly sinking into the water. My great aunt, a very old woman, plucked a maggot off my shoulder. I was driving back and forth to the city for someone's 32nd birthday. We kept passing someone I used to know who was parked on the side of the road. She was trying to pick music to listen to, and seemed more and more frustrated every time we went by. Eventually, while changing her shirt, she said "Fine! I'll just listen to Wilco!" When I got back to the cottage, the neighbours were singing a song about the news.

#3: A friend and I were staying in a big house with an unfinished basement. At one point we found a bunch of worms. I explained how people on the set in Terry Gilliam's movies had to eat real worms. They didn't really have a choice because, according to Terry and a producer, real worms are actually cheaper than fake worms. A band from Calgary came to play a show in the basement, but stopped because even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking show, people in the audience started smoking weed. The whole band got sick, but it was okay because it was the last day of their tour. Later, I peed in a drain hole in the basement.

#4: I found a dead man's body in a bathroom. His two sons are in there, and they are making fun of how I peed. They said that my pee sputters when it comes out, like when there's air in your taps. The sons peed on me and jumped into a toilet to hide. I flushed the toilet to soak them. Just as the coroner showed up, the dead dad turned into the boys' mom and woke up saying she'd only been out for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The coroner started sawing into the mom's arms and a clear liquid shot out into the coroner's mouth. Off to the side, my aunts were wearing blue sunglasses and singing Christmas songs.

#5: Up at a cottage, there's a neighbour across the water singing "Row slow, Row slow, It’s a graveyard,” while a bunch of ducks swim past. I go for a hike with my mom and brother. I joke that he’s responsible for all the Deadpool graffiti. He hands me a giant slab of rock. The water had been very gentle, but now it starts flowing hard and fast. Later I’m at a restaurant with my laptop. I’m cataloging other people’s photos, and I get self conscious when I get to a bunch that are all one person’s selfies. A friend is sitting next to me and talking about a hard friendship she’s dealing with. We talk about how friendship isn’t always just one thing. We talk about people’s halloween plans, and she tell me about this horror movie where lots of teen girls seem like they’re trying to stab each other around their feet. The friend notices the selfies, so I close my laptop

#6: I at a facility to get physical and mental therapy. For physical therapy, they had me lay down on a bed where I immediately fall asleep. The bed had a posturepedic mattress, and it kept bending and shifting, which oddly made it hard to stay awake. Two people came in for the mental therapy. They asked what kind of mental therapy I was looking for, and I said “nothing in particular.” They tried to get me to fill out some forms, but the pen they gave me kept smudging so I didn’t finish. I got up from the bed and walked around to make a complaint, but they said I had to get back in the bed for "the big finish." Then the bed raised up all the way to the ceiling and squished me into a plow pose a couple times. When it was done I said I wouldn’t be back because they didn’t do any mental therapy
