Three Magical Mustaches

Mustache wax not included

There is inspiration everywhere for magic mustaches. They need not be left in the DCC Annual and the occasional Yearbook! To prove such, I have created three magic mustaches for your reading pleasure. Also, I will point to cartoons, the sillier the better, as a font of inspiration for creating your own magic mustaches. Creators, stick one in your next adventure!

Flapjack Visages Laids
The “all over” stache. I challenge folks to write it up and leave it in the comments below.

Magical Mustaches

“It doesn’t matter if you have the beard on the outside. As long as you’ve got the beard on the inside.” - Action Hank, Dexter’s Laboratory

If more explanation is needed, merely refer to the DCC RPG Annual Vol I’s Appendix M.

Whisker Points = Character’s Personality modifier + Luck modifier (minimum 1).

Squiggle Stache

You fell asleep and people drew on your face with a permanent marker. Somehow, the drawings are magic. Wait, did Doug draw on you?

Each time the Squiggle Stache is activated, roll 1d3 to determine which one of the following effects briefly occurs: (1) the drawings move in obscene and offensive ways (2) they take on the appearance of “corpse make-up”, or (3) the marking actually look like a real mustache!

The Sharpie Stache confers the following abilities to its wearer per Whisker Point spent. Only one ability can be in effect at a given time:

  • Draw a small object on your face and peel it off! This object exists for 1d7+1 rounds.

  • You can perform a minor rewrite to a stat block. Change a single number into another number. This lasts for 1d3 rounds.

Crocheted Beard

The merchant said their grandmother, a seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, hand crocheted it on her deathbed. You couldn’t believe they sold it.

Each time the Crochet Beard is activated, roll 1d3 to determine which one of the following effects briefly occurs: (1) somehow grows, (2) billows beautifully, or (3) the ghostly grandmother can be seen watching over you whilst crocheting.

The Crocheted Beard confers the following abilities to its wearer per Whisker Point spent. Only one ability can be in effect at a given time:

  • Your beard keeps you feeling cozy and warm. +1d to saves versus cold.

  • Your beard provides a layer of padding. You gain 1 damage reduction per damage die (each die still does minimum 1 damage).

The Scratchy Shadow

You haven’t shaved in a bit, but you feel great. Your miniscule whiskers tingle with extrasensory power.

Each time The Scratchy Shadow is activated, roll 1d3 to determine which one of the following effects briefly occurs: (1) they ripple like ocean waves, (2) turn neon yellow, or (3) form geometric patterns.

The Scratchy Shadow confers the following abilities to its wearer per Whisker Point spent. Only one ability can be in effect at a given time:

  • Spend a Whisker Point to make your prickly facial hair stand on end for 1 turn. Anyone who deals melee damage against you must succeed in a DC 10 Reflex check or take 1d4 damage from your scratchy chin.

  • Your hairs tingle when danger is near. Spend a Whisker Point to reroll an initiative check at +1d.

Tell me of your mustache’s magic.
