The Peakies 2026

The least extravagant awards of the year

The okayest awards of the year return. It's The Peakies!

Favorite Thing I Already Owned but Bought Again

Sometimes I spend money on things that I already own. Do my shelves need more books? Not really. There isn’t much available space yet. Are these the actions of a fiscally responsible adult? Apparently, but it’s debatable.

Winner

WHPA

I already had a huge number of the zines, but the hard cover was so appealing. Wish I got it to the table more than the once or twice a year! It's always a blast when I do!

Runners Up

Purple Planet

The special edition just looked so sick. Also, there are a couple new adventures so it was only 90% the same as what I already had. I did an overview of this earlier this year.

DCC Core rulebook

Apparently there’s a new adventure that I didn’t know about so I had to get it. I now have like 5 versions of this book. Don't tell my wife. I don't want to explain this to her.

Most Fun Thing I Finally Got To The Table

The things that have been my my shelves for years that I finally got to actually use. I wish this happened more often.

Winner

The Waking of Willowby Hall

I played it with my son! He’s 5 so I essentially ran it on “easy mode” but it was still loads of fun.

Runners Up

The Doom That Came to Christmastown

Ran this for some friends at just recently. What a fun adventure!

Winter’s Daughter

Another one that I ran a easy version of for my kiddo.

Thing That You May Look At From Afar

You can not buy these! I have them so prepare to live vicariously for a brief moment.

Winner

Cool Fortune Teller

Got sent this for being a cool guy. If you don’t have one, then its still a possibility that you are a cool guy, but not a guarantee. Thanks Kyle!

Runners Up

DungeonCon Program Guide

Complete with an adventure that is set in the warehouse! However, the warehouse layout is surprisingly not conducive to a “dungeon layout”. Don’t plan on running it.

Stefan Poag Art

Love this piece! You can see it in Empire of the East, but the original has a beautiful blue to it.

Post That I’m Most Proud Of

I like to think I offer some nice ideas now and then. The interviews that intersperse this newsletter make it so I have time to cook up these ideas. If anyone wants to nominate one of these for the upcoming Bloggies, I wouldn’t mind.

Winner

Creating Draconic Adventures

This one really got me thinking about a setting/series of draconic themed adventures. I’ve got a decent outline for something, but it has a big scope and needs tons more work.

Runners Up

Hexcrawling non-geographic landscapes

I’ve tried to write an adventure in this style, but I didn’t quite get working. It was a dimension hopping thing for Academia Arcana. I hope to explore this more in the future but might try it being a “mind crawl” instead of a dimensional/timeline thing.

Massive Spellburn + Latent Corruption

If you combine these two, then I think that you get some great tools for DCC campaign play.

What TTRPG wins an arbitrary category of your own choosing?

Made A Monster

When an orc shaman botches an evil ritual, the PCs’ bodies are transformed into monstrous forms! They must quest to return themselves to their original form before they lose their minds as well! Made A Monster plugs right into Castle Whiterock and turns combat encounters into espionage opportunities.
