My Evil Is Law: Adventure Generator

4d12 to inspire your game session

Here's the last significant section of My Evil Is Law, my Samurai Jack inspired setting and system (previous posts: 1, 2, and 3). There are a few miscellaneous bits I've written but they don't feel as fully baked. Here we have a few tables for generating adventures. Roll 4d12 and you're on your way! To further expand on adventure creation, I have a solid system for generating “dungeons” found in Mysteries of the Multiverse. A few tweaks to some of the table results and that would be perfect for a setting like this.

Rumor Source

1. An old laborer who claims to have once a warlord

2. A rug merchant determined to make a sale

3. An escaped prisoner who fears hunters

4. A professor on a lecture tour

5. A group of bounty hunters let it slip while hunting you

6. An old sailor with multiple prosthetic limbs

7. A traditional warrior from an almost extinct culture

8. A massacre victim’s dying words

9. A scientist who regrets his greatest invention

10. A dead man’s parrot

11. A dream/nightmare

12. Your reflection

Premise

1. Alien migrant minorities need crystals to power their secret spaceship

2. A magic portal is held within one of the bellies of a twin-headed beast

3. A monster is bound within a deathtrap dungeon. It seeks freedom in death but may only find final relief from honorable combat

4. A notable figure, with a large bounty, entangles themselves with the PCs

5. Robots are eating all metal and technology in an area

6. An amateur wizard is polymorphing people into exotic animals that he then sells

7. Horrid creatures are kidnapping people and taking them to their sanctuary

8. A grandchild of the Overlord raids the countryside for ancient artifacts and lost technology

9. There’s a wizard who offers free magic to anyone who gets in his van

10. A 100’ giant stomps past where the PCs are resting.

11. Bandits forced villagers into a dangerous search for an ancient artifact. And the villagers found it! Now the villagers have just enough advantage to negotiate

12. A local despot is on their deathbed. Factions vie against each other while upon the precipice of a bloody conflict

9. A near impregnable fortress

10. A city banished beneath the waves

2. Spirits protect the location

3. An old friend or mentor suffers from brainwashing

4. A pair of bickering bounty hunters following the PCs

5. Alien saucer abductions

6. Underground/underwater dwellers appear and make demands

7. Someone discovers they are actually a robot

8. One of the Overlord’s spawn takes a personal interest in the situation

10. Some of the antagonists only act as such because of a curse

11. A trickster spirit enters the fray for sheer amusement

If I combined all the My Evil Is Law posts and add a starter adventure then that'd be a pretty solid zine. What more would you want for running games of this?
