Did You Know?

Our Year of the Dragon premium house blend isn't just a flash in the pan. It was actually blended and added to our line-up in 2012, the last Year of the Dragon, by our former herbalist Ken, who was also born in the Year of the Dragon! It's an exquisite combination of three teas with "dragon" in the name.

All of the teas that make up Year of the Dragon are green teas. But oolong teas are actually also named for dragons. The term "oolong" comes from the Mandarin "wū lóng" (烏龍/乌龙), meaning "dark dragon" and most probably referring to the twists and curls of this popular partially-oxidized tea style!

About BAJI in their own words:

"Among immigrant populations, black immigrants have the highest unemployment rates and earn the lowest wages, even though they are among the most educated. The Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) believes that a thriving multiracial democracy requires racial, social and economic justice for all. African Americans and black immigrants are stronger together and we can win by becoming leaders in the fight against structural racism and systemic discrimination. BAJI was formed to bring Black voices together to advocate for equality and justice in our laws and our communities. BAJI educates and engages African American and black immigrant communities to organize and advocate for racial, social and economic justice."

About M4BL in their own words:

"The Movement for Black Lives is a Black-led organization and ecosystem in service of uplifting ALL Black people. We elevate the experiences and leadership of the most marginalized Black people, including but not limited to those who are women, queer, trans, femmes, gender nonconforming, Muslim, formerly and currently incarcerated, cash poor and working class, disabled, undocumented, and immigrant. We intentionally amplify the particular experience of state and gendered violence that Black queer, trans, gender nonconforming, women, and intersex people face. There can be no liberation for all Black people if we do not center and fight for those who have been marginalized."

The Movement for Black Lives is a fiscally sponsored 501(c)3 at The Common Counsel Foundation.
