🛠️ We’re Hiring: Full stack software developer
We’re recruiting! We’re looking for a part-time developer to join our team for approximately 21 hours a week. This role will help us maintain and improve our tools while working closely with communities that shape them. The deadline for applications is 10am on Thursday 10th January 2026, and you’ll find full details on the role, how we work, and how to apply here.
🗺 New Co-operative World Map Data Release
This month we’ve been preparing the latest update for the Co-operative World Map, which is built using our tool Mykomaps. It’s one of the biggest updates yet. The map now includes 21,000 newly added co-ops, with more data from 15 co-operative networks currently being integrated. The map will soon show over 84,000 co-ops worldwide, and offer a much clearer picture of the scale and diversity of the global co-operative movement.
Being on the map helps your co-op be visible in a global network, making it easier for partners, researchers, and communities to find and connect with you. It also strengthens the collective power of the movement. The more complete the map, the clearer the story we can tell about the real scale and impact of co-ops worldwide.
Since the start of the project, organisations have joined from across Argentina, Australia, Canada, Colombia, India, Nigeria, Spain, Philippines, UK, USA, and several global co-operative networks.
If you want to add your co-op to the map, reach out to Tom Ivey.
🔧 Looking Ahead: Product Strategy Reflections
Over the past few weeks the DCC team has been doing some deeper reflection and planning around our product strategy.
Building socially-motivated, open-source technology isn’t simple. Funding models are unconventional, communities use our tools in diverse ways, and the broader context is shifting rapidly.
Hearing how your organisation uses our tools is helpful for us to clarify where we go next.
People have said that Land Explorer helps them…
“...to be able to influence local change. It helps more people feel confident in making proposals.”
“...unlock empty spaces for non-profits and community asset developers.”
“...to understand who owns the land and where the boundaries are so that we can campaign for public access rights for walking.”
We’re looking forward to opening up this work and having deeper discussions with our community in the new year. You can sign up to use Land Explorer for free here.
📲 We’re Now on Instagram and TikTok
We’ve opened brand-new Instagram and TikTok accounts to share more of our work, stories from the movement, and updates from the tools we’re building. They’re very new but we’ll be rolling things out in the new year. We hope you’ll follow along as we grow those channels.
Wishing you rest and warmth as we close out the year.
