Hello!
Things are ticking away here at Digital Commons Cooperative. We're working hard to prepare for the relaunch of one of our flagship tools, Land Explorer, and introducing a series of new features and functionality later this year.
While we're working on that, here are a few other things that are going on.
🏘️ Data for Housing Justice: a new resource
Our partners at Shared Assets have launched a new newsletter written specifically for people working on housing justice. We work together to develop tools and resources that help communities understand and challenge land ownership and this newsletter is a great example of that work in action. Sign up here.
🔍 Land Explorer: pro tip
One of our team members recently used Land Explorer to map out the holdings of some of the UK's largest landowners. Here's how they did it:
The first step is to find one address tied to the landowner. You currently need at least one known address to do a more in-depth search.
Next, go to https://app.landexplorer.coop/ and sign in (or register).
Search for the known address in the search bar.
Zoom in and click on the property. Go to the side bar and turn on “All Properties”. You should then see the owner information listed.
Scroll down and click on "Check other properties".
Zoom out on the map and you should see the other properties populate across England and Wales.
