White Noise: Back to NYC
The North American premiere of White Noise saw me make my return to NYC for the first time since December 2021. Where the two trips in 2021 saw me staying for a few days to a week, this one was a very quick trip in which was in an out in just over 24 hours.
Netflix hosted some 40 members of the Critics Choice Association for the North American premiere screening, afterparty, and an exclusive press conference and reception. It was a fun but way too short weekend. I’m always grateful for the opportunities as it allows me to see my colleagues from other markets in person rather than on social media or Zoom hospitality while waiting for press junkets.
When I attended the afterparty this weekend, I was also able to meet documentary filmmakers Aviva Kempner and Chris Smith. While I would loved to have experience more of NYFF, it’s always hard because of the fest schedule and how the Jewish holidays fall each year. There’s almost always a scheduling conflict—case in point, many of the upcoming Chicago International Film Festival P&I screenings conflict with holidays so I’m really not sure about how much coverage I’ll have.
