The Summer Movie Season is Here
It isn’t just that the summer movie season is here but I am entering another week of May where the large majority of my reviews are already scheduled for the upcoming week. It’s a satisfying feeling.
Having reviews or interviews scheduled to run daily this week helps free up my schedule to take care of more interviews along with getting a head start on the next week. There’s a local film festival going on and aside from that, I only have one major press screening to attend. But still, it’s a change from the pre-pandemic days where I had multiple press screenings during the week. I skipped a few screenings because of horror but I’m averaging at least one trip to the theater per week this month. In April, I had no choice but to skip screenings because of oral surgery/recovery. Not counting a local film festival, of course. Busy is always good.
Going into Friday morning, I felt comfortable enough about my schedule for this week to just go through my inbox. Having nearly 2000 unread messages is very intimidating but they just kept piling up during April. Between two dental extractions and Passover, I just didn’t really keep up with emails. Passover never helps matters especially with being offline for four of eight days. I usually use spend time clearing out emails when I’m in route to a screening but there aren’t as many these days! Of course, that’s when I don’t end up mindlessly scrolling through social media.
