Surely, you can't be serious

The rulings from the Supreme Court during the last week have made it tough to watch any movie with a clear mindset.

It’s this mindset that led me to pull out my Paramount Presents Blu-ray of Airplane! on Thursday night. Laughter is necessary even in the dark times. Yes, there are aspects of the film that don’t age well but I really needed the laughs.

It’s been a busy week otherwise. After missing my screening last week, I escaped the neighborhood on Sunday to watch Elvis. While I have some issues with the script itself, make no mistake that Austin Butler is an Oscar contender for his performance as Elvis Presley. The rest of the week saw screenings of Minions: The Rise of Gru, Where the Crawdads Sing, and Thor: Love and Thunder. The review embargoes have yet to lift for the latter two films. I went with Minions over Marcel the Snail with Shoes On because I just needed one of those comedies on Monday.
