Omicron Variant Disrupting Awards Season

The 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards are still set to take place at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel on January 9, 2022.

The CCAs might be the last event standing as the AFI Awards, BAFTA Tea Party, and Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala have all cancelled or postponed their in-person events. While all this is going on, a few major film festivals are getting set to place in the next few months: Sundance and Berlin. Berlin is going full-steam ahead but with some changes (no parties). If any of these major events are going to pivot to virtual, they need to make the announcement now. Obviously, the situation is fluid but for the sake of those who are traveling, any decisions need to be made soon.

Following publication, it was announced on Tuesday that both the Hollywood Critics Association and New York Film Critics Circle have postponed their January 8 and January 10 events, respectively.
